THE PARISH CHURCH OF SAN VITTORE
Located at a high point in the town, the Church of San Vittore offers not only a space for spirituality but also a charming viewpoint from which to admire the surrounding landscape. The structure stands out for its architectural style, with a three-nave construction delineated by pillars and covered by cross vaults and a presbytery made unique by an umbrella vault with ribbings.
One of the elements that surely catches the eye is the bell tower. Its lower part, characterized by bifora windows, is considered older than the rest of the building, with estimates dating it back to the 12th or 13th century. As you walk inside the church, raise your eyes to the vault of the main nave, where you can admire frescoes depicting the four evangelists and angels, a true symphony of art and devotion.
The artistic journey inside the church continues with the discovery of the polychrome marble altar from the late 18th century and the wooden statue of San Vittore from the same period. And don't miss the ancient reliquary busts that depict two saint martyrs from the Theban legion, artistic testimonies from the 16th and 17th centuries.
A MODERN TOUCH
In 2020, the parish was enriched with a modern work: a Christ on the cross sculpted in 1977 by Severino Trinca. This sculpture, made from a douglas fir trunk that the sea had returned, shows Christ in a pose of pain but also of dignity, a representation of life ready to rise again. Today it is located in the external area of the parish, offering a contemporary connection with the deeply rooted spirituality of the place.
